Mayor Pilon explained that the City has 34 miles of roads. Council and staff are trying to figure out how to get them done at a reasonable cost. By balancing the assessment 50% / 50%, it would allow the City to get through the road projects in a reasonable timeframe. The Township used to charge 100% of the road improvements to residents. Our levy is only about 1.7 million dollars. Years ago, when the first road study was done, it was estimated that a basic upgrade, before they had deteriorated to where they are now, was estimated over $3 million dollars.
