Estimated cost to the city for holding a special election to fill a council vacancy.
Not promoted to the official baseline.
This cluster is useful evidence for review. It does not drive the budget simulator until an admin confirms the amount against an official source and promotes it.

Estimated cost to the city for holding a special election to fill a council vacancy.
To date, none of the cities we represent have elected to spend the time and money to hold a special election - they wait until the next general election. The cost of a special election can exceed $10,000. For this reason, the communities we represent have filled the vacancy through the appointment process and then placed the position on the ballot for the next general election. For what it is worth, that would be my recommendation to the City Council.
Reasoning: The text explicitly states the cost of a special election can exceed $10,000, which is an expenditure the city would incur.
Estimated cost to the city for holding a special election to fill a council vacancy.
Dana Henjum XXX45 Gypsey Valley Rd. Mr. Henjum expressed his desire for the council to look at appointing someone to the Council rather than spending the $10,000+ for a special election.
Reasoning: The dollar amount is referenced as the cost of a special election, which would be an expenditure from the city.
